MRFF 2024 Clinical Trials Activity Grant 

Closing date: 2nd April 2025

The objective of this grant opportunity is to provide grants of financial assistance to support medical research and medical innovation projects that:

• Stream 1 (Targeted Call for Research): conduct a pilot study to assess the feasibility of a new clinical trial for one or more treatments and/or management strategies for a rare cancer, rare disease and/or unmet need.
• Stream 2 (Targeted Call for Research): conduct a clinical trial of one or more treatments and/or management-based interventions for rare cancers, rare diseases and/or unmet need.
• Stream 3 (Targeted Call for Research): conduct a clinical trial that assesses the comparative effectiveness of two or more health interventions to treat a specific clinical condition, to inform the decisions of policy makers, clinicians, and consumers regarding healthcare and to minimise the use of unnecessary, ineffective, and harmful health interventions.
• Stream 4 (Targeted Call for Research): conduct an implementation science trial to determine the best ways to implement a proven preventive health intervention, screening or diagnostic test, therapeutic agent, technology or model of care that is not in routine use in Australia.

Applications to this grant opportunity must propose research that addresses one of the 4 Streams of research.

MRFF National Critical Research Infrastructure Initiative – 2024 Clinical Trial Enabling Infrastructure Grant

Opening date: 13th February 2025. Closing date: 2nd April 2025.

This program provides funding to promote development and implementation of ‘adaptive platform’ and ‘registry based’ clinical trial methodologies, that will be used to conduct world-class health and medical research in areas of unmet medical need.

This grant opportunity will provide grants of financial assistance across three streams with grants of up to $7 million. Maximum grant amount varies by funding stream and/or topic.

MRFF and NHMRC 2025 Australia-UK Platform Studies

A funding opportunity for international collaborative clinical trials between Australia and the United Kingdom is now available. This grant opportunity will fund platform trials that address areas of unmet clinical need. This research will improve the lives of people with serious health conditions who have limited options for prevention, diagnosis or treatment.
